Grace Witwer Housholder holds journalism and French degrees from Indiana University. She was a Pulliam Fellow at the Indianapolis Star. She returned to Kendallville, Ind., in 1975, becoming editor of a weekly newspaper. In 1979 she moved to The (Kendallville) News-Sun as a reporter/columnist where her sharing of funny kid stories found a home. In addition to writing her weekly Funny Kids and Kidwarmers columns, she is a reporter and chief editorial writer for The News-Sun, The Evening Star and the Herald-Republican newspapers and helps with kpcnews.com. Her work has earned Hoosier State Press Association, AP, UPI and other awards.

Grace and her husband, Terry, publisher and CEO of The News-Sun, The Evening Star and the Herald-Republican, are the parents of four children, Dolly, Liz, Catherine, and Paul. They are active members of Immanuel Lutheran Church (co-founded by Terry's great-great-great grandfather) and involved in numerous community and church projects.

In 1994, shortly after Grace's first "Funny Things Kids Say" book came out, the family found a "Funny Kids" journal that Grace's great-grandmother, Grace Osburn, had kept. It has about 70 stories covering a 10-year span before World War II. For example, one time when Grace's father was 4 or 5 he put too much water in the radiator. His mom said if he had listened to her, it would not have run over. "I know you are more intelligent and older and more clever and have more experience," Grace's dad told his mom. "But I know a good many things that you have forgotten!"

Grace hopes her books bring back "things that you have forgotten" and help you stay a kid at heart!
